For Guests at the WakeMed House

  • Your residence is 25 miles, or more, away from WakeMed Hospital.
  • The patient receiving is 18 years or younger and is receiving inpatient treatment.
  • All guests must be deemed appropriate for residing in a community environment, passing a background check process for all adults over 18.
REQUEST A ROOM

There are five rooms in the Heart Center Inn which is attached to WakeMed Hospital. Each room has two double beds, a private bathroom, a TV, a table, chairs, and small refrigerator.

A complimentary continental breakfast is offered daily from 6:30 am-9:30 am in the Resource Center. WakeMed’s Café 3000 is open daily from 6:00 am-1:00 am. You will receive Café 3000 meal vouchers to help offset costs. The Ronald McDonald Family Room is located on 4E near room 4E1. The Family Room has snacks, coffee, soups, and frozen meal options. The Family Room is typically open from 9:00 am-9:00 pm with occasional additional early morning hours. Please note that due to infection control and space limitations the Family Room only permits family members over 16 years old. Patients are also not permitted into the room.

Visitors are welcome during daytime hours. Only registered guests may stay overnight. Access to the Heart Center Inn is limited to hotel guests after 8:00 pm. There is a limit of four people in each guest room overnight.

The Family Care team will work closely with the medical providers to determine the needed length of stay. Priority is given to caregivers who do not have the option to sleep in the room with their child. If you need to request an extension to your stay beyond the initial reservation, please call the Ronald McDonald House team at 919-948-9877.

The Ronald McDonald House is a block of rooms within WakeMed’s Heart Center Inn. The Inn is on the 3rd floor of the Heart Center. You are invited to check in after 3:00 pm. When you arrive, take the Heart Center’s elevator to the 3rd floor. The Reception desk is just to your left. Check-in at the Heart Center Inn’s Reception desk. There will be a reservation made in your name. Just bring your license plate number with you if you are parking in the P2 lot.

If you are arriving after 6:00 pm or on the weekend, the elevators do not allow public access to the 3rd floor. Call the Heart Center Inn at 919-350-7777 and let them know you are checking in. The staff will assist you.

Your room key will allow you to access the Guest Resource Center where there are places to sit, a TV, computers, and tables and chairs. There is also complimentary laundry facilities, a fitness room, ice makers, and vending machines.

Each room is supplied with linens for the bed as well as bath towels and wash cloths. A welcome bag will be placed in each room, with basic toiletries and a few snacks. Each room also has a clock radio, TV, and hair dryer. Pack and Play Cribs may be available upon request.

Guest rooms are cleaned daily by the Heart Center Inn’s team. New linens are provided every three days. If you hang the “Do Not Disturb” sign on your door, you will not receive a cleaning. Please let the Heart Center Inn’s reception desk know if you have any maintenance problems.

The entire WakeMed Campus is smoke, tobacco and alcohol-free.

There is no cost to stay at the Ronald McDonald House. Guests are encouraged to leave a $10 donation, per a night.

Bring your keys to the Reception Desk and let them know you are leaving and the room is ready to be cleaned. Check-out is at 11:00am.
